Background
African soils are experiencing loss of organic matter, biodiversity, fertility, water and wind erosion, and soil acidification.
Regenerative Agriculture (RA) encourages practices such as permanent soil cover, agro-biodiversity, and the use of recycled organic fertilizers to optimize nutrient cycles and minimize environmental impact. Additionally, the event emphasizes the need for novel nutrient sources and efficient production technologies, such as biofertilizers and biochar derived from agricultural waste. Integrating RA principles with Sustainable Agricultural Intensification (SAI) approaches is essential for enhancing productivity, sustainability, and resilience in African smallholder farming communities. Together with Africa's governments, the Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA) and the African Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (AFAAS) create an enabling environment that is conducive to sustainable farming and intensification by offering extension education and a mechanism for support.

Event Theme
●The importance and benefits of integrated landscape soil and water management to optimize fertilizer use and soil health across agricultural land uses.
●The organic matter component of the Integrated Soil Fertility Management (ISFM) equation: Challenges and realistic opportunities.

Speakers
The event will feature speakers such as Dr. David Nielson, who previously served as Lead Agriculture Economist at the World Bank Group, Dr. Andre Bationo, renowned for his contributions to SAPEP and recipient of the Africa Food Prize in 2020, and Dr. Martin Fregene, Director of Agriculture and Agro-Industry at the African Development Bank, among other notable speakers.

Seize this opportunity to learn from these experts and register to contribute to the development of more resilient agricultural and food systems in Africa through Regenerative Agriculture (RA).
