From October 18 to 22, 2025, Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA) and the National Directorate of Agriculture (DNA) conducted their annual joint supervision mission across three key sites: Monzombléna, Guessébougou, and Samanko. This mission aims to assess progress on demonstration and adoption plots, interact with producers, and identify challenges and opportunities to improve agricultural performance.

The visit began at the Monzombléna Postharvest and Trading Center (PHTC), where the team met with regional agricultural authorities before heading to the villages of Foloda and Monzombléna. Women producers presented their groundnut demonstration plots, highlighting improved practices such as organic fertilization, line planting, and microdosing. Male producers demonstrated enhanced maize production techniques, reflecting strong adoption of promoted practices.

In Guessébougou, the mission visited an adoption plot in N’Tjibougou, where climate-smart technologies line planting, microdosing, organic manure application, and contour ridges are being applied effectively. Producers shared both the benefits achieved and constraints faced, particularly regarding timely access to quality agricultural inputs.

On the final day at the Samanko PHTC, participants observed the practices implemented by producers Drissa and Assétou Keïta, including soil preparation, fertilization, and field maintenance.

Overall, the mission noted active participation by women, significant improvements in line planting and microdosing, and a strong commitment from producers. Challenges remain, including limited access to inputs and insufficient labor during peak periods. This supervision mission highlights the value of the strong SAA–DNA partnership and reinforces the need to continue strengthening producer training, technical support, and access to inputs and equipment to enhance agricultural resilience in the intervention areas.
