The Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank visited a SAA-Nigeria’s KSADP Project site

The Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), H.E. Dr. Mohammad Al-Jasser visited a project site of the one of the SAA supported projects, Kano State Agro-Pastoral Development Project (KSADP) and expressed his deep satisfaction for exceeding the expectations of the Bank on the implementation of the project in the Kano state.

Dr. Al Jasser was in Nigeria between 23rd to 26th October 2022 to pay a visit to the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, H.E. Professor Yemi Osinbajo to hold a strategic development meeting with (Mrs.) Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed, Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning to enhance the cooperation between Africa's largest economy and the IsDB Group within the framework of the new strategy of the IsDB.

Dr. Al Jasser then traveled to Kano State to meet with the Kano State Governor, pay homage to His Royal Highness, the Emir of Kano. A  field visit of the IsDB-Lives and Livelihood Fund (LLF) funded Kano State Agro-Pastoral Development Project was conducted for Dr. Al Jasser to meet with the beneficiaries. 

At a joint event organized by SAA/KSADP in Watari community, Bagwai local government in Kano state, Dr. Al Jasser expressed his satisfaction that the Bank is extremely happy with the Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA) Nigeria and the Kano State Agro-Pastoral Development Project (KSADP) for exceeding the expectations of the Bank on the implementation of the project in the state.

During the visit, Dr. Al-Jasser launched the SAA/KSADP Agro inputs stockist empowerment project designed to support small-scale agro-dealers, mainly youths, women, and people with special needs. He also inspected several value chain activities on display at the KSADP pavilion including Rice Parboilers, Rice Threshers, Maize shellers, and commodities showcased by beneficiary groups at the event. 

The IsDB president further reiterated that the project is the Bank’s contribution to poverty reduction and strengthening food and nutrition security in the state.

SAA is partnering with the Kano state government to implement Kano State Agro-Pastoral Development Project (KSADP) to implement the crop enhancement component of the project funded by IsDB and Lives and livelihoods Funds, LLF in the region at the cost of 19.3 million USD over a project duration of 5 years, from 2021-2025.
