The 3rd Biennial Conference of the Ethiopian Society for Postharvest Management (ESPHM) took place in Addis Ababa from 7-8 December 2023. The conference focused on the theme of "Food System Based Sustainable Post-Harvest Management to Enhance Food Security, Nutrition and Trade."

Dr. Fentahun Mengistu, the Country Director of Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA)-Ethiopia, delivered a keynote speech during the conference. Mr. Oumer Taha, Senior Program Officer of SAA, presented a technical paper titled "Engagement of Rural Youth and Women on Job Creation through Postharvest Loss Management (PHLM) Activities." SAA showcased its postharvest activities through publications, and prototypes of threshers, shellers, and hermetic storage solutions such as metal silos and PICS bags. The exhibition was attended by over 90 participants invited from various institutions working in the postharvest sector, including the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research (EIAR), Agricultural Research Centers, Universities, NGOs, and private sectors.

SAA's longstanding commitment to ESPHM and its conferences was acknowledged with a certificate of recognition, highlighting the organization's significant contributions. Ms. Aberash Tsehay, the NSA coordinator at SAA, has been an active Executive Committee (EC) member of the society. In a testament to her valuable contributions, Ms. Aberash was re-elected as an EC member during the society's general assembly. Additionally, Dr. Fentahun Mengistu was appointed as an advisory board member, further solidifying SAA's influential role in society.
