Naome Mwidu, the Agro-processing Champion in Uganda

Pallisa Agri-business Training Association(PATA) in Kibuku district of the Eastern Region of Uganda is one of many One Stop Center Associations(OSCA) constructed by Sasakawa Africa Association. PATA trains and promotes crop value chain activities among the groups.
Naome Mwidu is the center manager of PATA and a trainer. She is involved in the agro-processing of cassava and has over 28 products such as gari, bagia, and confectioneries. Some of her products are known for helping address the malnutrition and dietary needs of people.

SAA Trains Rural Women in Agriculture in Central Uganda

SAA in march 2022 conducted training for women in Mubende and Kiboga districts to equip women with the skills of using advanced technologies in agriculture. The advanced technology will enable women in agriculture to improve productivity for mass production, which is necessary to gain fully benefit from agriculture as a business. SAA helps women acquire modern technologies in the entire agricultural production chain.

Climate-smart agriculture (CSA) is an approach that helps guide actions to transform agri-food systems towards green and climate-resilient practices.
SAA trains farmers in its intervention areas in climate-smart practices and walks with the farmers right from planting throughout the whole value chain.
This is a success story of a couple that has used these practices to realise more yields, safeguard the soil and be model farmers in Nakaseke district.

Most Farmers grapple with a lack of financing to buy inputs, start alternative sources of income and often experience uncertainty of the climate among other things. However, SAA is working with them on the ground to equip them with the skills to organize under their various groups to access finances for production.
